Education

Lerato attended Ipolokeng Primary School and Boksburg High School for her senior schooling. She said to Anele Mdoda on Real Talk, “I never believed I was pretty, I was tomboyish, and I was quiet and reserved. She participated in beauty pageants to increase her confidence. The once-shy youngster took first place in a number of pageants, including Miss Jam Alley and Miss Soweto.

When he was younger, Lerato wanted to be a doctor or an attorney. She continued her education at Damelin College where she studied travel and tourism and public relations. Career

Lerato’s career was transformed when she won Miss Soweto in 2005. The contest helped her get her big break on Soweto TV. She and a friend attended the channel’s launch, and the rest was up to fate.

“When we got there they had a presenter missing because they were going on-air that day. So this white lady from Urban Brew came to me and said, ‘listen we are missing a presenter… I heard you are Miss Soweto, can you do this?’. I had never done television, live television for that matter,” she told MacG on his YouTube series.

She spent almost five years at Soweto TV and also worked as a flight attendant. With appearances on shows including The LKG Show, LIVE AMP, and The Link, Lerato went on to become one of South Africa’s most well-known TV anchors. Before joining The Link, Lerato had given 50 various shows his time.Lerato has dabbled with acting as well. The Phat Joe Show was the start of her acting career. She performed hilarious skits on the program. Lerato has since been on a variety of programs, including The Wild, Play: Sex Tips for Girls, and Muvhango.

Unfortunately, their romance did not last. Lerato claimed that after their breakup, for eight months, she pretended they were still dating because she needed time to process it. Even though their split was amicable, Lerato later revealed that she had been “dogged a few times,” which led some to believe Katlego had been unfaithful to her all along.

Lerato hasn’t been spotted with a new guy in a while, but she issued a warning to her Twitter followers not to assume that she is single. She responded to a fan who asked if she had a boyfriend after seeing that she frequently appeared “lonely” in her social media photographs.

“Don’t assume I don’t have cars, homes, families, or girlfriends just because I don’t post about them.” In February 2019, she wrote, “I don’t broadcast my private life, it remains that, private, not a communal project my love, Love ME for me, not what I have.”

Miscarriage

“Yes, I had a miscarriage this year again. Yes, it was my fourth miscarriage. But I’m okay. I was three or four months pregnant and unfortunately, I lost my baba. This is something that I didn’t want to discuss but since we’re having an honest night. Yes, I was pregnant this year,” she said.

“I was looking forward to this pregnancy and I thought this time around I had made it through because I’ve been trying so hard for a while. I thought this time around I had made it through because I had been trying so hard for a while.”

Lerato Kganyago has been outspoken about having miscarriages in the past. The radio host cried as she described her ordeal on Behind the Story with Pearl Thusi. She recalls the exact moment she found out she was miscarrying.

“The doctor kept looking for the heartbeat and she was looking everywhere. I remember I was not looking at the monitor… I kept asking her if everything was okay… I won’t lie, at some point, I felt like a lesser of woman. All I want is someone to hold in my arms,” she said.

Lerato voiced her displeasure with her position as a woman. She admitted to having two miscarriages in a separate interview. In a 2017 interview with Real Talk, Lerato said, “That was when I really wanted to have a child. I sought counseling to help me deal with the loss. I’ve simply discussed the (most recent) one since it was the one that had the most influence on me.”

Lerato is still determined to have children despite her heartbreak. She asserts that adoption is still a possibility. Lerato promoted adoption by using her expertise in social media. She reminded her Twitter followers that adoption is “not a white thing” in 2017.

Endorsement Deals

Lerato began her 2021  by signing two significant contracts, working with Skip and the Washing Powder Company, and taking on the role of the face of Levi’s Curvy Jeans lines. She also promotes the Huawei brand and serves as an ambassador for Coca-Cola No Sugar.
