Nadia Nakai and Blxckie nominated in BET 2022

On Monday, September 12, the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards candidates were revealed, with Canadian artist Drake heading the charge. Nadia Nakai and Blxckie, two rappers from South Africa, have been nominated in the Best International Flow category alongside rappers from the UK’s Central Cee and Ghana’s Blxck Sherif.

NADIA NAKAI AND BLXCKIE SCORE NOMINATIONS

The first recipient of the Best International Flow Award was the rapper Sarkodie from Ghana. At the time, Nasty C from Mzansi was also a nominee for the honor. Nadia Nakai and Blxckie, two South African celebrities, have received nominations this year for Best International Flow.

One of the biggest breakout stars in SA hip-hop in 2021 is Blxckie. After releasing his debut album, David, Blxckie became an immediate force in the music business. Since then, he has put out popular songs like Hold and Kwenzekile, which feature Madumane (DJ Maphorisa). Nadia Nakai has dazzled South Africa with songs like 40 Bars, Practice, and Naaa Meaan. In July, she released her new single Not The Same with LucasRaps.

DRAKE LEADS BET HIP HOP AWARDS NOMINATIONS

Prior to the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards, which will take place on Friday, September 30, at the Cobb Energy Centre in Atlanta, Drake has gotten 14 nominations this year. The rapper is up for Best Live Performer, Best Lyricist, and Hip Hop Artist of the Year awards. Both his single, Way 2 Sexy and his sixth studio album, Certified Lover Boy, have received nominations for Hip Hop Album of the Year and Song of the Year, respectively.

With 10 nominations, Kanye West sits closely behind Drake. Ye has also been nominated for Hip Hop Artist of the Year and Best Live Performer. Along with ATL Jacob, Metro Boomin, and Pharrell Williams, he was nominated for Producer of the Year.

SJAVA WIN 2018 BET AWARD

Sjava was awarded the Viewer’s Choice: Best International Act Award at the 2018 BET Awards on June 24, 2018.The ceremonial handover took place at Viacom’s offices on February 25. Alex Okosi, executive vice president and managing director at the Viacom International Media Networks Africa, and Monde Twala, BET’s vice president, Youth and Music, presented the award to the muso.

Sjava not only won his first BET Award, but he also holds the distinction of being the first hip hop/pop artist from South Africa to take home this prestigious trophy. Sjava has demonstrated that remaining steadfastly true to your roots may help you become the greatest in Africa by always being willing to take on innovation and authenticity to build the ideal formula to defy the norm.Sjava won a BET Award in the category of “Viewers’ Choice: Best International Act.” This is regarded as one of his greatest and most prestigious honors, not just for himself but also for all of Africa.

He praised his Twitter followers for their support and added that it was a victory for everyone in South Africa. Along with BET Africa, the government has congratulated Sjavu on his victory.Sjava won the prize for his song “Seasons,” which he contributed to the 2018 Black Panther album. The film itself won the prize for Best Film. The first SA hip-hop artist to receive a BET award is Sjava.
