Black Coffee Executive Produce Drakes Suprise album

Nkosinathi Innocent Maphumulo, better known by his stage name Black Coffee cant stop flying the SA flag high he has been accredited as Executive Producer on a Canadian rapper (Drake) seventh album, Honestly, Nevermind. The rapper realized a surprise album on 17 Friday 2022 midnight. The album also features co-production by the likes of Keniemusik’s Rampa and &ME across 14 tracks.

The album is believed to be dedicated to an American fashion designer Virgil Abloh, who died last year, Abloh was best known for being Louis Vuitton Men’s Artistic Director and the CEO of the streetwear label Off-White but his talent extended way beyond the world of fashion. Abloh was also an architect, engineer, DJ, and musician. Abloh succumbed to cancer in the year 2021 at the age of 41 after a private battle with the disease.

The project has since been welcomed with mixed reactions from fans across the globe some say the star album fell off others are vibing to fact that the star tapped into a new territory of music and attracted a wider audience. However, more than 3 million showed the thumb up on the rapper’s Instagram page when the album was dropped.

The South African super-producer got a chance to showcase why he is respected across the globe in the dance fraternity when he was listed as an Executive producing a few songs in that14 track album. Black Coffee executive produced Texts Go Green – Black Coffee listed his son Esona Tyolo (who has been touring with him) as co-producer, and Currents – Coffee has been credited as a co-writer and co-producer and Overdrive – He has also been credited as a co-writer and co-producer.

Congo-born singer-songwriter Tresor also scored a production credit on Honestly, Nevermind. This comes after he co-wrote Fountains featuring Nigerian songstress Tems on Drake’s Certified Lover Boy. Tresor collaborated with the Drake on Currents, Massive, Flight’s Booked, Overdrive, Down Hill, and Tie That Binds.

The star sales catalog is out of this world so no doubt that the expectations of this surprising album are expected to be skyrocketing too, His 2021 record Certified Lover Boy debuted at No. 1 with 613,000 units, and 2018’s Scorpion took the top spot with 732,000 units, and 2016’s Views and 2013’s Nothing Was the Same each debuted at No. 1 with 852,000 and 658,000 copies their first weeks, respectively

Lately, on social media, the duo had been posting pictures of themselves together in global musical events and not many were working on such a huge body of work many thought it was going to be just a single, not an album.

Black Coffee and Drake’s relationship dates back to 2017. The Canadian rapper sampled one of Coffee’s hits, Superman, featuring local songstress Bucie for a song titled Get It Together.
