In the past ten years, buying a new automobile in South Africa has rarely been as advantageous as it is right now, according to new statistics from consumer credit reporting firm TransUnion.The newest Vehicle Price Index (VPI) from the group, which serves as a gauge of the inflation rate for new cars, continued its downward trend from the previous year in the fourth quarter of 2021, falling from 9.6% in Q4 2020 to 2% in Q4 2021.TransUnion said that despite shifting customer demand and supply, the price of used cars continued to rise during the same time period, with the used vehicle index rising from 2.9% to 7%.
