South Africa’s cheapest cars are in high demand since the country’s consumers face a bleak economic future. In the past ten years, buying a new automobile in South Africa has rarely been as advantageous as it is right now, according to new statistics from consumer credit reporting firm TransUnion.The newest Vehicle Price Index (VPI) from the group, which serves as a gauge of the inflation rate for new cars, continued its downward trend from the previous year in the fourth quarter of 2021, falling from 9.6% in Q4 2020 to 2% in Q4 2021.TransUnion said that despite shifting customer demand and supply, the price of used cars continued to rise during the same time period, with the used vehicle index rising from 2.9% to 7%.
BAIC D20 Hatch 1.3 Comfort
The most affordable automobile in South Africa is the D 20. In April 2017, the BAIC D20 compact hatchback and sedan line debuted in South Africa. The Models have a starting price of R149,990 and go up to R209,990, since BAIC and Mercedes-Benz have a technology sharing agreement, the D20 borrows the Smart ForFour chassis and the B-exterior Class’s design.
